Spalding Gray

Spalding Gray is an American actor, known for his autobiographical monologues.

Below is his performance of Terrors of Pleasure (1988). Although in the footage below there are more than one person performing, he is the only performer on stage and his voice is the only voice throughout the piece.

“The only problem was the foundation. There really wasn’t one.”

There are many videos of his work of Youtube and they are well worth looking at.
I am inspired by Spalding Gray’s storytelling. The levels of pitch and tempo that both he, Karen Finely and David Cale do are interesting and something that I want to look into.

Another piece of work by Spalding Gray is Swimming to Cambodia.
