Although not a solo performance, I went to see Proto-type Theater’s A Machine They’re Secretly Building at the LPAC out of curiosity.
I found it most entertaining and thought provoking.
A Performance about surveillance and the internet.
I found the diction of the performers onstage very clear and understandable and their mechanical movements, completely in sync with each other whilst turning paper over and writing was something that I feel I would like to incorporate into my work somehow. Obviously not in sync with anyone else as my performance is a solo, but the mechanical and distinct movements is a feature I liked and could use. The stage was quite simple too, with a camera, projection board, table, two chairs and a filing cabinet. I like the simplicity of the staging and the audience interaction with the repetition of “At least its not raining” and the acknowledgment of the audience.
