It was interesting to see the variety of tech that we are able to include in our performances. Being previously unaware of much of the tech that we have available to us I found the workshop very helpful. We played around with lighting and created our own atmospheres and transitions. I had many ideas after this session and became quite inspired for my own piece. Here is a video of the ‘routine’ we created:
This included two sound effects. We used some side lighting at the start on the face and then the body and then added a corridor light in as a transition. At the front Laura is in a square ‘spotlight’ and the lighting changes again to a dark blue colour, changing direction every now and then to create different shadows on the ground.
During the workshop we also experimented with spotlights, Birdy’s, angles, and colours. It was a very informative session.
This then led to my Tech rehearsal. I had some issues earlier in the day where my recordings wouldn’t save as MP3’s however, I was able to create a back up plan for if they didn’t work. Fortunately they did work. My recordings were recorded a few times, as I wanted to create a sense of “otherness” with them. They are meant to represent thoughts, therefore I wanted them to be in my voice to represent ‘my’ thoughts but I didn’t want them to be as clear as my own voice so as to detach them slightly. In the end I went for those that were recorded in an echoey room. Here is a clip:
My tech rehearsal went quite quick as I knew exactly what lights I wanted when due to the nature of my performance and the idea that I had in my head.
